TIP

DSE produce a vast range of ready-assembled hidden
cameras, in both wireless and hard-wired versions |
|
These mini cameras, available in
several versions,
are specifically designed for
discreet surveillance. Not much larger than a coin, they can be installed
inside very small objects. The pin-hole lens enables the camera to film
through a hole just 1 mm in diameter.
Extra small size
When choosing a mini-camera overall dimensions are very important since
these units are very often installed in small places. Using latest
technology Micro SMD boards these cameras are smaller than most other CCD
mini cameras on the market which are usually based on a 35x35 case.

The image on the left gives you an idea of the real dimensions of the
products. Smaller cameras cannot be produced nowadays, using CCD sensors.
The camera
In spite of the small size these cameras are developed to provide the same quality level of bigger cameras.
Cameras are available in several versions in order to meet any quality and budget requirements.
The following table shows CCD brand, resolution and lux of every model.
| RE-TBC3 |
B/W Samsung CCD - 420 TV lines - Min. 0.5 Lux |
| RE-TCC3 |
Color Sharp CCD - 420 TV lines - Min. 1 Lux |
| RE-TCC3H |
Color Sony SuperHAD - 520 TV lines - Min. 0.1 Lux |
| RE-TCC3L |
Color Sony ExView - 420 TV lines - Min. 0.05 Lux |
Standard models RE-TCC3 and RE-TBC3 are suitable for general purposes.
RE-TCC3H with high resolution and extra small size is ideal when maximum performance is required.
RE-TCC3L, with Sony ExView CCD is recommended for low light applications, considering that minicameras cannot use IR illuminator.
The lens The cameras come with a special type of lens for concealed use called
"pin-holeE lens. This type of lens is able to film through a 1 mm hole, and is
therefore perfect to make cameras which are completely invisible even on
close inspection.
Cameras are supplied with 3.6 mm pin-hole
lens RE-036P, which offers a wide-angle view able to fully cover a
small-medium area. Alternatively it is possible to replace the standard lens
with any of the other DSE pin-hole lenses from the range
below:
RE-036P
Flat pin-hole lens - wide angle
RE-036PC
As above
cone type
RE-062P Flat pin-hole lens - middle angle
RE-062PC As above
cone type
Pin-hole
lenses are usually flat to ensure minimum
depth of the camera. If however the surface hiding the camera is not flat, it
could be a good idea to buy the cone lens
(shown here) which makes it easier to get the lens closer to the hole.
Further information about the available lenses can be found on the page
LENSES. When choosing the best lens for your purpose using
the lens tables, bear in mind that the
camera RE-TCC4 comes with 1/4" CCD
while all other models are based on 1/3 CCD.
Low cost models RE-TBC3 /RE-TCC3 can be also purchased without lens, in order to buy the
favorite lens separately without having to pay for the standard one.
Audio
All DSE mini cams have a built-in high sensitivity microphone.
The microphone is placed beside the lens. RE-TCC3H, due to the very small size comes without microphone.
Mounting bracket
All cameras come with a mini mounting bracket than can be used or removed according to the application.
Wiring and installation
These cameras can be directly connected to a TV or
monitor using a cable.
They come with a cable
of
around 40 cm which has RCA video connector and an audio connector, as well as a
plug for the power supply.
To extend this you can use the 20 m cable RE-CT1 (video+audio+power), or for
longer distances RG59 coaxial cable.
The cameras take a 12 VDC power supply. To convert 220V mains power into 12
VDC a 220VAC/12VDC adaptor such as
RE-AL4S is used. If you
need to control more than one camera you can use a device such as a
switcher, quad splitter
or multiplexer. Modern digital video recorders do not require these
control devices and cameras can be directly connected to their video input
terminals.
These mini cams are also available in a
wireless version with a RadioEye transmitter.
For those with less experience, or needing to refresh their knowledge,
the tutorials section
contains a number of lessons explaining how to wire and install a hard-wired
CCTV system correctly.

PLEASE
NOTE: Unlike our wireless cameras, these hard-wired mini cams are
supplied without a power adaptor, which must be ordered separately (RE-AL4S)
