These High Resolution, state of the art, cameras
have been designed to provide the highest video quality for analogue CCTV systems.
High resolution
The main feature of these cameras is the high resolution provided by the
best SONY CCD and DSP chipset.
RE-TCC5E - 650 TV lines
RE-TCC5 - 520 TV lines The high resolution of the CCD gives
high definition images with clear, sharp outlines.
If you wish to know more about this topic, read the lessons on video resolution
in the tutorial section.

tutorial on choosing camera resolution
High resolution cameras are
recommended in all applications which demand clear view of small details.
Day/Night function and DSS for low light view
Second important benefit of these cameras is their superb performance in low light conditions.
Being based on SONY ExView HAD CCD, the best sensor for low light, these
cameras are both excellent for viewing in the dark. Nevertheless they are
a few technical differences:
RE-TCC5 comes with the Digital Slow Shutter feature which
amplify the image light and perform down to only 0.00045 Lux.
With such a great low lux performance, these camera is ideal for night time surveillance of large areas where infrared illumination would be not possible or too expensive.
RE-TCC5E featuring Day & Night function, are
recommended for use with infrared illuminators for view in total darkness.
RE-TCC5 model cannot be used with IR. i
Wide Dynamic Range for backlight compensation
Another good reason for choosing RE-TCC5 and RE-TCCE cameras is their
capacity to compensate backlight providing clear view even if oriented
towards bright light sources. Typical application causing backlight is the
surveillance of shops or rooms with large windows. Also in this case both
camera offer great performance but using different techniques.
RE-TCC5 comes with Sony ExView Double Scan CCD ,
which provides genuine WIDE DYNAMIC RANGE functionality.
The WDR function has been developed quite recently in the CCTV field and
enables proper surveillance of rooms with hard backlight conditions.
The CCD of
RE-TCC5
WDR cameras is scanned twice with different shutter speed. The first scan is optimized for dark areas, the second one for the bright background.
The DSP circuit of the camera merges these 2 scans together in order to obtain one single frame with a wider
dynamic range than a normal camera.
On the left side of this page there is a clear example of backlight that shows how
WDR cameras enable optimal view of both the dark subject and the bright background.
RE-TCC5E also includes the WDR feature but in this case the WDR is just digital and created by the DSP of the camera while the CCD is a normal single SCAN
sensor. Backlight performance of RE-TCC5E can be better that a normal camera
with BLC, but not comparable with a genuine WDR CCD camera like RE-TCC5.
This is the reason of the significant price difference between the 2 models.
Most, so called, WDR cameras in the market use normal CCD with digital WDR
like RE-TCC5E. We recommend to choose a real double scan CCD if you expect
hard backlight conditions.

On Screen Display
(OSD)
These cameras are based on DSP microprocessor and many options are
selectable. The camera come with 5 pushbuttons that control the
OSD menu. The OSD menu gives access to several settings. Here is a list of the most
important ones:
AWB
Several options are available in order to render the white color according
to the kind of light in the environment.
Privacy zone.
This function is used to prevent critical areas to be filmed by the camera,
normally for protecting people's privacy.
Day & Night threshold. You can set the light level that switch from
color daytime view to B&W night operation.
Mirror function.
Mirror function is used to rotate the image upside down
vertically or horizontally. Cameras filming backwards or hanged on the ceiling, generally need this
option to be set to ON.
DNR -
Digital Noise Reduction is a digital process that reduces the electronic noise in the image. Very useful with low light,
this function cleans up all image noise and provides more uniform colors.
HS-BLC
This function is very convenient when filming vehicles. It is used to mask headlights preventing the camera to be blinded by their
strong light.
Back
focal adjusting ring
The case of the camera includes a wheel system for easy back-focal
adjustment.
The distance between the lens and the CCD can be easily adjusted by rotating the
ring on the body of the camera.
Any type of lens, from big zoom to fish-eye, can be perfectly focused in a matter of seconds and without any tool.
The
lenses
These cameras are supplied without a lens in order to fit the lens
which is most suitable for the size of the site.
Choose the lens for your camera on the
lens page. All DSE lenses
can be fitted onto this type of camera, including AUTOIRIS and VARIFOCAL lenses. When
calculating the angle of view of the lens, bear in mind that this camera has
a 1/3 CCD.
Audio
These cameras are supplied without built-in microphone.
Should you require audio in your system you can consider to add an external microphone like RE-CM2.
Wiring
and installation
These cameras can be directly connected to a TV or
monitor using a cable. You can use the
ready-to-use 20 m cable RE-CT1 (video+audio+power), or for longer distances
RG59 coaxial cable such as CV-RG59 in rolls of
100 m.
The camera takes a 12 VDC power supply. To convert 220V mains power into 12
V, a min. 500 mA 220VAC/12VDC adaptor such as
RE-AL4S is used. In case you
prefer to power the cameras from a single power point you can use a cabinet power supply unit like RE-RE-AL10.
We also supply brackets for wall-mounting and
protective housings. If you need to control more than one camera you can
connect them to a multi channel digital video recorder.
If the camera is connected to an external transmitter like
RE-DTX1,
the video signal can be transmitted without wires.
For those with less experience, or needing to refresh their knowledge,
the tutorial section
contains a number of lessons explaining how to wire and install a hard-wired
CCTV system correctly.
