CCTV cameras are very sensitive to electrical problems.

First of all, Voltage surges are very dangerous for CCTV systems. Electrical machine tools, short-circuit, or nearby lightning strikes may create high voltage surges  that  can seriously damage cameras and other video equipment in a matter of instants.
When occasional surges occur in a CCTV system, the video signals from one or more cameras suddenly disappear. This happen out of the blue, without any previous sign of irregular service. Very often the users tent to believe that the high quantity of faults is due to low quality CCTV products.

Ground loops are another potential trouble source, mainly in large CCTV systems. Low currents, due to different ground potential, may flow along the shield of the coaxial cable, creating unwanted video effects. (See tutorial)

DSE video protection devices are specifically designed for protecting the video input of CCTV equipment. They can be used on coaxial cable or twisted pairs, if video balun are used.

  RE-PR1/2/3 Surge suppressors
  RE-BNCG1 Ground loop insulator

RE-PR1 video protection for coaxial cables

Surge suppressor for BNC video input
RE-PR1 protection module must be connected to the end of coaxial cables, right before the device to be protected (camera, monitor, DVR etc.). The product has one female BNC connector on one side (cable IN) and one male BNC connector on the other side in order to be fitted straight to the camera (device) video input. Besides, the module has a ground cable that need to be connected to the ground for ensuring the effective protection of the device.
In case of voltage surge, the RE-PR1 module is able to react in less than 100 ns. protecting the camera from current up to 5000A.
The module can bear up to 300 surges of 100A each before being replaced.
Protection device does not need to be powered.
Overall size:
25x25x78 mm. Weight: 80 gr.

RE-PR2 video protection for twisted pair

Surge suppressor for RJ45 video input
RE-PR2 protection module, is similar to the previous model, but has been developed to protect video inputs over twisted pair cables when video baluns are used. RE-PR2 can be used with both passive (RE-BNCRJ1) and active (RE-BNCRJ2) baluns.
RE-PR2 module must be connected to the end of the twisted pair cable, right before the video balun which is then connected to the camera. For this reason the product come with 2 RJ45 jacks (IN/OUT). Besides, the module has a ground cable that need to be connected to the ground for ensuring the effective protection of the device.
Protection device does not need to be powered.
Overall size:
25x25x85 mm. Weight: 90 gr.

RE-PR3 video protection for coaxial cable + data

Surge suppressor for BNC video input and RS485 serial bus, to be used with speed-dome cameras
RE-PR3 protection module, is similar to the RE-PR1 type, but besides the video protection, has been designed to protect one RS485 data input, widely used for speed-dome cameras control.
The protection module must be installed between the video/RS485 cables and the speed dome camera. It protects both the video circuit and the Pan/Tilt control of the speed-dome camera.
RE-PR3 module comes with 2 female BNC connectors (IN/OUT) and 2 DATA IN + 2 DATA OUT terminals. Besides, the module has a ground terminal that needs to be connected to the ground for ensuring the effective protection of the device.
Protection device does not need to be powered.
Overall size:
67x27x87 mm. Weight : 136 gr.

RE-BNCG1 ground loop protection for coaxial cable

BNC video input insulator
RE-BNCG1 protection module, must be connected straight to the camera's video output and cut down the effect of ground loops. The module also includes a surge suppressor against voltage spikes. RE-BNCG1 does not require any power and can be easily installed both on new CCTV systems or existing systems where ground loop problems already exist.
BNC male (camera side) + BNC female (cable side)
Size: 28x21x84 mm. Weight: 80 gr.
