If you wish to incorporate a video
recorder into your CCTV system firstly you will need to choose the type of
technology.
There are currently 3 available solutions:
TIME-LAPSE
cassette video recorders

PC
based digital video recorders

Stand-alone
digital video recorders with dynamic compression

Stand-alone
digital video recorders with static compression
(on this page)
For more detailed information on the pros and cons of the various
technologies listed above read the
tutorial on video
recorder technology. DSE offers state of the art technological solutions
of all types.
Why choose DSE stand-alone video
recorders with JPEG2000 compression?
POWERFUL
The DR-2K recorders stand out for their outstanding image quality, on
average superior to that of models which use dynamic compression technology
such as MPEG4.
RELIABLE
As they do not rely on any operating system, DSE JPEG2000 stand-alone video
recorders guarantee outstanding stability, even over long periods.
EASY
TO OPERATE
DR-2K digital video recorders are the ideal solution for those who want the
benefits of the latest digital technologies combined with an easy to use,
robust product, with its own commands, without requiring a keyboard and
mouse, and which can be directly connected to an analog monitor or TV. Just
like a home video recorder.
The main characteristics
No built-in
operating system
The DR-2K4 and DR-2K8 digital video recorders operate by means of a
dedicated recording system which is optimised in terms of cost/performance
and does not contain an operating system (Windows, Linux etc.), not even
embedded.
As they do not rely on an operating system outside their own software, DSE
video recorders stand out for their total operating
stability, even over long periods of continuous recording.
DR-2K4 and DR-2K8 represent the most reliable solution currently available
in the field of professional security video recording and can be used
risk-free in unmanned settings or by untrained staff.
Optimization of the Hard Disks
To guarantee maximum flexibility of use, DSE video recorders are supplied
without a hard disk. You can install up to a maximum of
2 Hard Disks of any brand and capacity
to tailor recording capacity to your needs. The hard disk does not need to
be formatted, as DSE video recorders use a proprietary file system that
enables the use of the entire available space.
Smooth, high resolution images
DSE video recorders record smooth, non-jerky images, unlike many
cassette-based recorders or low budget digital systems.
Images are captured at a high resolution of 720x288 pixels with excellent
detail. The maximum capture rate is 50 f/sec total (60 f/sec in NTSC),
divided between the active recording channels.
Simplex/Duplex/Triplex modes
Recording can also continue during playback and access from a remote PC.
JPEG2000 compression
DSE DR-2K4/8 video recorders utilise the latest JPEG2000 compression
technology which offers considerably higher image quality than that of the
classic M-JPEG compression used in the previous versions DR-C4/DR-C8.
Image quality is a key strong point of the DR-2K4/8 video recorders, even
when compared to PC based video recorders with MPEG4 compression. JPEG2000
compression does not create the unattractive mosaic effect which is
inevitable with MPEG4 dynamic compression. Although the latter technology
enables a high rate of compression, the quality of the details is inevitably
sacrificed.
Guaranteeing long term stability and reliability, JPEG2000 compression
offers several days of video recording, depending on the hard disk in
question. As a rough guide, a 120 GB hard disk can store up to 30 hours of
continuous recording at maximum capture rate. It is possible to use up to
two hard disks, of a larger capacity (250..300 Gb) to increase recording
capacity. Once disk space is used up the device can continue to record,
automatically recording over the oldest images.
Built-in DVD burner
The built-in DVD burner supplied as standard makes it easy and quick to save
the recordings you wish, without using a PC.
JOG&SHUTTLE knob
The front knob makes it easy to adjust
playback speed forwards and back without having to press buttons.
Access from remote PC via local network or the internet
DSE video recorders feature a TCP/IP card for
connecting to a LAN network, enabling remote viewing from any PC on the
network or via the internet (using the software supplied). We also supply
inputs for external sensors and a RS232 port, with instructions for
developers who will thus be able to control the video recorder by means of
other devices, using ASCII commands.
Motion Detection
The Motion Detection function, which has sophisticated
programming commands, enables you to activate recording only in the event of
intrusion.
Audio
DR-2K4/2K8 video recorders have 4 audio inputs to connect cameras
with audio.
